Verma Interweaving: Indo-Persian Exchanges WORLD / NORTH INDIAN CLASSICAL Sitarist Arjun Verma blends deep-rooted North Indian classical tradition with bold cross-genre innovation. A disciple of Ali Akbar Khan, he’s performed and collaborated globally. Percussionist Pezhham Akhavass, student of Naser Farhanghfar, Saeid Roudbary, and Zakir Hussain, brings virtuosity in tombak and daf to world stages through performance, collaborations, and teaching. Bethany Hill Femmina Super EARLY / NEW / CLASSICAL / FOLK Bethany Hill is an Australian-born, U.S.-based soprano, composer, and playwright specializing in early music, new music, and theatrical storytelling. She co-founded Turas Ensemble, and collaborates across classical, folk, and electronic genres. Her work centers women’s narratives, blending beauty, experimentation, and historical practice into transformative performance. Brett Carson Lights Out! (Angel Telephony) Recording project OPERA / NEW Brett Carson is a Berkeley-based composer, pianist, and improviser whose genre-defying work blends classical, jazz, experimental rock music. Known for visionary compositions and boundary-crossing performances, he has collaborated with the Art Ensemble of Chicago, Zenna Parkins, George Lewis among many others, and performs internationally across experimental and classical scenes. Carla Lucero Muriel & Anita OPERA Bay Area composer Carla Lucero creates bold, socially driven operas centered on feminist, Latinx, and historical narratives. David James Mission Rebel No. 1: Looking for Jesse James JAZZ David James is a San Francisco-born composer, guitarist, vocalist and bandleader who draws from hip-hop, film and theater scores, afrobeat, and more, bringing these influences to his innovative musical compositions. His rhythm-horns-and-strings sextet GPS explores rhythms and textures from across the African diaspora and beyond.
