Sierra Marie Gonzalez, performing as Simago and known as the “Healer Emcee,” is a Cuban and Puerto Rican, Chicago-born, Bay Area–based musician, rapper, vocalist, poet, playwright, and sound healing practitioner whose work has evolved through both personal healing and community-based arts and wellness. She creates music that blends live hip-hop, spiritual jazz, and sound healing into immersive performances that are both composed and improvised. Her work is rooted in rhythm, voice (singing, rapping, poetry, storytelling), and frequency, using sound healing instruments as part of the music itself to shape how the music is created and experienced in the moment.
After producing and selling out her first large-scale Sound Bath Symphony (then featured on Bay Area FOX 5 News), Gonzalez formed her ensemble, Simago and The Healers, a group of musicians and sound healing practitioners who share an understanding of frequency, tone, and the expressive potential of sound. The ensemble was created to bring her original compositions to life while collaboratively developing a genre-blending sound rooted in spiritual jazz, hip-hop, and sound healing.
