Camilo y los Cruzers is the latest project from quixotic multi-instrumentalist Camilo Landau, exploring the intersections of Latin music and Black music with an all-star lineup of renowned musicians. Camilo y los Cruzers attempts to break down some of the barriers between Latin and Black music communities by explicitly inviting musicians from distinct communities to collaborate in an open creative setting. The name invokes cruzando fronteras – crossing borders – and cruising through historic periods when Black and Latin mixed such as the lowrider era of Chicano Soul.
