Pedro José Pastrana is a Puerto Rican cuatro player and a Latin Jazz musician. He grew up playing traditional Puerto Rican folk “Jíbaro” music, a style that has its own traditions and vocabulary. However from the moment He discovered Jazz in high school, he’s been fascinated with improvisation as an artistic form of expression. As a professional musician and sideman, he’s had the pleasure of collaborating with artists like John Santos, a staple of Bay Area Latin Jazz, Barrio Manouche, Jerry Medina (from Batacumbele), Juango Gutierrez, Orestes Vilató (from Fania All Stars), Gary Nuñez, Andy Montañez among others. As a solo artist and bandleader, Pedro released his first album in August 2022, selected by prpop.org among the top 20 best recordings of that year.
