About us InterMusic SF is a San Francisco Bay Area non-profit organization that advocates for those who create, share, and love the art of small ensemble music. InterMusic SF acts as a catalyst to help local artists thrive via career development and creative collaboration. Our mission is to support the professional and artistic growth of San Francisco Bay Area musicians whose focus is the small ensemble. Through programs that include fiscal sponsorship, grant-making, career development, and curated performance partnerships, we strengthen the careers of local artists who contribute to a vibrant and diverse music community. We envision a thriving musical climate for San Francisco Bay Area musicians with sustainable careers who are celebrated by engaged and dedicated audiences. We value small ensemble music-making for its intimacy and immediacy, and champion its many genres by serving those who create and share it. Built to Help Our Services Fiscal Sponsorship The Fiscal Sponsorship Program (FSP) supports, nurtures, and advocates for emerging and established professional ensembles, individuals, and organizations who share InterMusic SF's commitment to the advancement of small ensemble music as an art form. SF Music Day Our annual music festival celebrates the Bay Area music community and engages local audiences to explore and savor the diverse range of music being made in our region. Artist Development Through fiscal sponsorship, career guidance workshops, and consultations, we create pathways to obtain sustainable careers in music and nurture professional development. Musical Grant Program The MGP awards project grants to support the creative musical activity of San Francisco Bay Area performers, composers, and presenters whose projects focus specifically on music for the small ensemble. Our Story In 1998, three longtime San Francisco Bay Area music patrons, Jane Roos Le Roux, Jane Galante and Barbara Barclay, recognized that while ensemble music contributes significantly to the cultural life of the Bay Area, professional groups generally lack the tools and staffing for audience development; and because most are not tax-exempt entities, they are rarely in the position to garner the contributed support that organizations in other disciplines receive. The founders saw a distinct need for a local service organization to support this art form in the Bay Area, and launched the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music (SFFCM). Now called InterMusic SF, the organization has grown significantly in ambition and impact since its founding and supports hundreds of diverse ensembles creating music in the genres of jazz, classical, world inspired, and new music.
